1/26/25 - Wildcat Weekly

Westport Mission & Vision

Mission: Leverage the strengths of the Westport community to ensure academic growth for ALL!

Vision: Westport will be a venue for academic success!

Westport’s Collective Commitments: Our Team will:

  • Make decisions which are student-centered and aligned to our WHY!

  • Be present to model consistent processes and expectations!

  • Leverage learning opportunities to increase instructional minutes!

  • Presume positive intent in order to maintain positive mindsets!

Friendly Reminders:

  • Be in the hallways at 7:10 AM to supervise students in the hallways going to first hour.

  • Please make sure you are in the hallways during passing times in order to properly supervise students and encourage them to go straight to class. Reminder grade levels should remain close to the assigned areas (ie 8th grade should not be in 6th grade hall section, etc).

Thank you, teachers, for entering tardies into the Tardy Management System.  Hallways are clearing out faster than ever before!

Westport Professional Learning

For the 2025-26 school year, your campus will receive targeted professional learning for all certified teachers at your site, focused on implementing high-quality Professional Learning Communities, establishing effective systems of intervention, integrating meaningful differentiation, and extending classroom instruction.

In addition, Westport will receive additional on-site coaching and consulting quarterly during the 2025-26 school year.  The Coaching Academy support will kick off this summer on July 9th and 10th from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.

Each certified teacher who attends will be paid according to the 2025-26 Salary Schedule.  If attending, please have each staff member who plans to attend register using THIS link.

Paraprofessional Assignments

Recently we have had several instances where are paraprofessionals, specifically Ms. Nikki and Ms. Alesha have been pulled away from their assigned locations to help support needs throughout the building.  While I understand our team is amazing, and is always willing to lend a helping hand, it is important that they are in the locations and places they are assigned to. Additionally, it is important to remember that our paras are assigned to specific sections, (ie ELEM or MS) and due to how their jobs are paid and labeled we must keep them in their locations.

This is a reminder that our Paraprofessional Assignments are a set schedule.  It is important to remember that these positions fall under a time clock, and so there is no real ability to “FLEX” their time.  If you have a need to have the support of a para, please ensure you speak with administration prior to making any requests for them to adjust their assignments.
