Important Updates

  1. With only two weeks remaining, we will be drawing to an end the use of movies in classes.

    1. 25-26 update from district, we will not be using movies as an option if it does not directly tie to the curriculum and will not be shown in their entirety, but only the portion(s) that connect to the standard that’s being taught.  The movie must also be district-approved, and the process of approval (before requesting district approval) from the company.

  2. As we prepare for the 25-26 school year I know we will begin planning clubs, committees, etc. As people share interest in being department heads (middle school), please see the job description we will use for roles & responsibilities. A few important positions we will update are Department Heads, Guiding Coalition, and PBIS Team.

    1. Department Heads - Job Description

    2. Guiding Coalition - Coming next week

    3. PBIS-Team - Coming Next week

End of Year and Explore Device Collection

As the school year wraps up, the Technology department has asked us to provide updates on end of year student device procedures and expectations.

Each site will receive a supply of disinfecting wipes with their end of year device collection tub(s). These wipes will need to be handed out to classrooms for student device cleaning on the last day of school.

Please see below for a breakdown of student device collection information by grade level:

Camp Wakonda Summer Opportunity (Jessica Blake)

There are 35 scholarship spots available for low-income students within SPS to attend Camp Wakonda this summer.

This past fall, we provided these scholarship opportunities to the classrooms that visited us for Outdoor Education. A total of 37 classrooms received information, and each teacher was given the chance to nominate one student who could benefit from a camp experience. However, as of now, only two scholarships have been utilized.

Connect with your site counseling team and collaborate to see if you have any students ages 7-17 who might be a good fit for this opportunity. If you do, please email Myra Cassady with Ozarks Regional YMCA with student names at mcassady@orymca.org

Map Testing Continues

Remember, there are some changes to the lunch schedule during MAP:

Each MS teacher will

  • Since there are NO PLT sessions during MAP TESTING, we ask that all PLT times teachers provide support in hallway supervision and rotate around the testing rooms to support other staff who are testing.

  • Have a sign on their door to help direct students to the correct lunches.

  • Have a memo to read to your classes at 11:15 (right before 1st lunch), so they know when to go to lunch.

Hopefully, this chart LINK will make it a little easier.  Thanks for your flexibility during MAP testing!!
